Soundings
is a unique platform for contemporary music initiated in 2004 by the
Austrian Cultural Forum London. It presents and profiles young
composers and performers from Austria and the United Kingdom in
workshops, symposia and concerts.
From 4 to 7 May 2009 Austrian
composers Gerald Resch, Thomas Amann and Manuel De Roo together with
their English counterparts, Emily Howard, Claudia Molitor and David
Fennessy, will work with musicians including mezzo-soprano Loré
Lixenberg, flautist Rowland Sutherland, Peter Furniss (Clarinet),
Claire Sterling (Viola) and the Fidelio Trio (Darragh Morgan, violin;
Robin Michael, cello; Mary Dullea, piano and Soundings Curator
2008 & 2009). As in previous years, discussions and interviews
will be led by distinguished music critic Annette Morreau and Soundings
project manager Andrea Rauter.
In cooperation with the British
Council Soundings will travel to Vienna for the first time, bringing
Austrian and British musicians together for two concerts at Vienna’s
Alte Schmiede on 8 and 9 May. The Fidelio Trio, Loré Lixenberg and
Rowland Sutherland will perform repertoire from Soundings projects
2004–2009. |
